No Love From Grande

Grande? I changed the layout. No comments? It's narrower now.

I have to so say this is a first for me. I've never been too wide for anyone.

Now you can view it on your cellphone.

You're welcome.

  1. with the words "love from Grande" and "too wide" in the same blog post, I almost hesitate to reply.

I will, however, admit most readily that I certainly do like the new layout much more than the interim version that was first available. no more scrolling left and right - that's always a plus.

in addition, the blue/orange color scheme reminds me of the Syracuse University team colors. again, a good thing.

lastly, harnessing the awesome power of the entire internet on my cell phone does bring about a strange euphoria, a dizzying light headedness that only subsides after the flip has been closed. it was in one of those glorious moments that I added The Sparrow Nest to my bookmark list. the colors and text practically leap off of the 240x320 screen. it is here that the redesign is most appreciated.

  2. Well I'm glad you like it.

Speaking of the colors. I used this:

to help me find a color scheme. It has all kinds of options to help you pick a color scheme that everyone can see. Things like using "safe" web colors, so all devices can render them (like your "Hello Kitty" cellphone). The tool also shows you what a color scheme looks like to person with color blindness. You're welcome Navin. :)

How does the logo/banner graphic look on your phone?

  3. actually, the logo looks surprisingly good considering that it's been reduced from 760 pixels wide to just 240.

have to check out that link, thanks.

and, no, the Hello Kitty one was back ordered when I got my new phone. I had to settle for the Blade instead : http://www.samsung.com/Prod...

  5. Love the new colors -- at least the ones I can see.

Now if they could only show me what things look like to you...

So, I guess in theory if I see little to no difference between the "normal" setting and one of the colorblind types, that must be the type I have? Interesting.

I seem to be somewhere around Protanomaly or Tritanomaly, but I can still see a small change with both of those. Nowhere near "Full colorblindness" by the way. That would really suck.

  7. Yeah. That's the theory. I just screwed around with colors until I found a scheme that barely changed when I switched between "normal" and "navin". If the color scheme tool is correct, you should be seeing the same colors that everyone else is seeing.

  8. This thing might actually help me answer my least favorite question in the world.

"Well what does it look like to you?" (Here, let me shove my eyeballs into your head.)
